To fend off potential potential break-in to your Gmail account, it is good practice to change your password every two months or so, but of course you should protect your emails with a new password immediately when you suspect somebody might be reading all the Gmail you get (and possibly even send some from your account).
How to Change Your Gmail Password
To change your Gmail password:
- Select Settings from the top Gmail navigation bar.
- Follow the Account Settings » link.
- Under Edit Personal Info, choose Password.
- Type your current password under Current password:.
- Enter the new password twice under New password: and Repeat password:.
- Click Save new password.
